False start, 5-yard penalty. Repeat 3rd down.
A quick google search of a personal finance “false start” occurs when overambitious goals, emotional decisions, or lack of preparation lead to abandoned plans, such as creating a hyper-restrictive budget that feels like punishment. Common pitfalls include excessive overspending on non-essentials and failing to create a long-term plan, which often leads to financial anxiety and a feeling of being stuck in a debt cycle.
A common example of this is buying a book that caught your eye, so you purchase it. Maybe read the 1st chapter and then it sits on your bookshelf collecting dust.
Well, I had some long time intentions of making this a personal finance related site. There are so many resources out there these days for every subject that you can imagine. I’m not sure I’d call myself an expert in the personal finance area. I just try my best to stick to 2 rules – “Have a budget/track finances” and “Live under your means”.
I’ll try my best to continue adding to the resources section but it will be a combination of personal finance and tech. I’ll still post about some personal finance related things here and there but along with that I’ll start posting some tech-ish content. Live true to the name of the site as it does have Silicon Valley in the name.
Anyway, happy to say I lived in Hawaii for a little bit. Dipped into retirement, ran a successful test, planning for the future….and now I’m back in California.
I also tried a few new and exciting things. I walked dogs. I got certified to do taxes in this state last year but decided that it wasn’t the path I wanted to go down. Not yet anyway.
I started my own consulting business and learned a lot.
I went on a few trips, some business related. For example, I attended conferences and classes.
I’m also currently trying to wrangle around everything in this AI space. I think that’s an exciting area to get into. Another area where there’s a lot of resouces.
I’ll talk about my career pivot and everything I manage to get myself into.
After all, I do go down a lot of rabbit holes.
For now, I’m going to leave you with this youtube video I recently came across: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7U0353WlrQ&t=7s
